Reigning English Premier League champs Manchester United will showcase their record 19th league trophy in Ho Chi Minh City next Tuesday.
In an event dubbed “Champ 19ns Trophy Tour” of Asia, legendary United players Denis Irwin and Gordon McQueen and club mascot Fred the Red will accompany the trophy and meet with football fans.
Irwin, 47, played 296 matches as left back for the club from 1990 to 2002, and won seven Premier League titles and the European Champions League, European Super Cup , and Confederations Cup once each.
McQueen, 52, played as a midfielder for United from 1978 to 1985, winning the FA Cup in 1979.
Irwin, McQueen, and the mascot are expected to meet fans at the Rex Hotel at 2.00 p.m.
The program, sponsored by Turkish Airlines and mail and logistics services Group DHL, will take the trophy to 27 places around the world including Vietnam as part of marketing efforts.
