Thousands gather to commemorate Trinh Cong Son

Despite the rain on the night of March 31, around 20,000 local residents and expats in Ho Chi Minh City flocked to the Crescent Park in District 7 for a concert to commemorate the late composer Trinh Cong Son.

Titled “De Gio Cuon Di – Mau Xanh Trong Loi Gio” (Let It Be Gone with the Wind – The Blue Color in Words of the Wind), the concert featured a number of famous local singers and bands including Duc Tuan, Lan Ngoc, HCMC Conservatory of Music’s choir, saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan and guitarist Vinh Tam.

Singer Trinh Vinh Trinh, younger sister of the late musician, also sang on the stage to commemorate her bother.

At the 2-hour concert, the artists performed more than 30 songs of the legendary composer, including “Thuong Mot Nguoi” (To Love Someone), “Nhu Canh Vac Bay” (Like a Flying Crane), “Diem Xua” (Diem of The Past), “Hom Nay Toi Nghe” (Today I Hear), “Nay Em Co Nho” (Do You Remember?), “Ru Tinh” (Lull Love to Sleep), “De Gio Cuon Di” (Let It Go with The Wind), “Bien Nho” (A Sea’s Yearning) and “Duong Xa Van Dam” (Thousand Miles Away).

The annual event to commemorate the great musician had taken place at the Binh Quoi Resort in Binh Thanh District for the last 10 years. This year, it moved to the Crescent Park, a larger venue, due to the increasing size of the audience.
